Molly does it again,
and again,
and again!

Scoops THREE trophies in Venice!

This is only a preliminary report

30th May 08 - Prova La Vela
Molly's opportunity to explore the shallow waters of the lagoon, (taking the mud here and there) and in particular to check her centre-board-up charactaristics in preparation for Sunday's race.
Enjoyed sailing around Murano and back to Centro Nautico.

1st June 08 - Velalonga
The briefing, in Italian, seemed to last 20 minutes - Odd how the English version took less than 2. Surely nothing was omitted? Nothing - Except that the fleet would have to chase the start line buoys across the lagoon! And then would go accross the start line and back around the upwind marker before the first long "downwind" leg. And later there would be extra not-mentioned buoys to go around. Oh well - we were only here for the fun aren't we?
Fun we had. Lots of close encounters, periods of going backwards, lots of sunshine and not much wind.
Molly won "Special Prize".

4th-7th June 08 - Velalonga Raid
A 4-day grand tour of the Venice Lagoon, with overnight stops in a different place each night.
Of the 8 stages, one was cancelled due to bad weather and Molly won 3 outright. Two of those involved shallow conditions favourable to the local boats but Molly won both by a handsome margin. Vincenzo (the Raid organiser) now wants a whaler! Three factors told in Molly's favour: - accurate navigation - better strategy (particularly choice of course when we had the option), and - speed under oars (easily outpacing the local boats) Claus was a great help with racing tactics. And a great time was had by all.

Molly won "Sail & Oar Category" and "Overall".

Congratulations again to Molly and her crew.
